FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers about Bitprint, shopVOX consulting, and how we work together. You'll know what to expect before you book a call.

Bitprint is premium consulting for shopVOX-powered shops: product architecture, job costing, Enfocus Switch/PitStop/Server, and Pressley.ai prepress automation when you are ready.

About Bitprint

What is Bitprint?

Bitprint is Tyler MacDonald's consulting practice for print shops serious about mastering shopVOX and the Enfocus stack. I help shops build strong foundations in product setup, job costing, workflow design, and prepress automation with Pressley.ai.

Why choose Bitprint over a general print consultant?

Most consultants know one layer: ERP setup, prepress tools, or automation scripts. Bitprint covers shopVOX product architecture, job costing, Enfocus Switch/PitStop/Server, and Pressley.ai implementation in one engagement. That full-stack depth is what shops need when the work falls outside coaching scope or shopVOX refers them for specialized help.

Do you consult on Enfocus Switch, PitStop, and Server?

Yes. Bitprint covers Enfocus stack strategy and implementation as it relates to shopVOX and prepress automation. Deep Switch, PitStop, and Server knowledge is applied through Pressley.ai and disciplined consulting, not open-ended custom scripting for every shop.

shopVOX + Enfocus perspective →
Are you employed by shopVOX?

No. I am an independent consultant and longtime shopVOX user and evangelist. I worked inside the company for 4 years as a coach and contributed nearly 300 help articles, but I now operate independently.

Where are you based?

I am based in Toronto and work with shops across North America. Most consulting is done remotely, shopVOX setup, costing, and workflow work does not require being on site.

Why do you focus so much on product setup and job costing?

Because these are the two biggest areas that determine whether shopVOX becomes a powerful tool or a source of ongoing frustration. When products and costing are done right, everything else becomes much easier, your team stops re-typing, pricing comes from real numbers instead of guesswork, and automation actually has something solid to build on.

shopVOX, Coaches & Pressley

What's the difference between shopVOX coaching and Bitprint consulting?

shopVOX Coaches and the Help Desk are excellent for onboarding, standard setup, and day-to-day support. They cannot give every shop unlimited deep-dive time, and some requests sit outside their scope. Bitprint consulting is for that deeper structural work: advanced product configuration, complex job costing, workflow design, or automation strategy.

Coaches & Help Desk perspective →
Can you help with shopVOX estimating and product setup?

Yes. That is the core of Bitprint consulting. I help shops build properly structured shopVOX products with the right inputs, dropdowns, defaults, machine/labor/material costs, and formula logic so your whole team can estimate accurately and confidently.

How does Bitprint relate to Pressley.ai and Enfocus?

Bitprint is consulting: getting shopVOX products, costing, and workflows right. Pressley.ai is the automation platform I built for prepress once that foundation is solid. Enfocus Switch, PitStop, and Server expertise is applied through Pressley as productized automation, not bespoke per-customer Switch scripting.

About Pressley & Bitprint →
How is Bitprint different from the official shopVOX Coaches and Help Desk?

The shopVOX team is excellent for standard onboarding and support. I step in when shops need deeper, more specialized work, when requests fall outside coaching scope, or when shopVOX refers a customer who needs extended product, costing, or automation help.

Coaches & Help Desk perspective →
Do I need Pressley.ai to use shopVOX?

No. Many shops do very well with just shopVOX. Pressley is an optional automation layer for shops that want to take prepress to the next level using shopVOX as the single source of truth.

What is Pressley.ai?

Pressley.ai is the automation platform I built for prepress: folder creation, proofs, and production-ready files at scale. It reads from shopVOX once your products, costing, and workflows are structured correctly. Bitprint gets shopVOX solid; Pressley automates prepress when you are ready.
